Ferocactus latispinus, commonly called devil’s tongue barrel, crow’s claw cactus or candy cactus, is a perennial member of the Cactaceae family native to Mexico. It has a globular stem which becomes more cylindrical with time. It is characterized by its thick red or white, flattened, curved spines. The flowers are usually purple, bloom in summer and followed by long ovoid fruits containing dark-brown seeds.
