Echinocereus pectinatus Echinocereus pectinatus, commonly known as rainbow cactus, purple candle cactus or comb Hedgehog, is a perennial plant of the Cactaceae family. It has an upright cylindrical stem with 12 to 28 ribs covered with interlocking, yellow or pinkish spines. The pink flowers are funnel-shaped and appear on the top of the stem. The greenish-purple fruit is spiny with dark ovoid seeds.
