Mammillaria prolifera Mammillaria prolifera, commonly known as nipple cactus, West Indian nipple-cactus or Texas hair cactus, is a perennial cactus of the Cactaceae family. It is forming a clump of globose dark-green stems with cylindrical to conic hairy tubercles. It has 5 to 12 slender and straight central spines and 25 to 40 radial spines. Nipple cactus produces creamy-yellow flowers and red fruits with black seeds.
